Beyond the Survival and Skepticism and into Spirituality—but Not New Age Fluff

In the same way you do not need to be religious to be spiritual, you do not need to be flowing in robes to connect to God on your own.

We want to connect, because we all feel the void of only pursuing material things: money, sex, food. But we get distracted, because there are so many offers in today’s New Age circus.

So it’s either:

  • we rebel against the church and become a hippie, or

  • we reject the hippie and grab a rosary.

But there is another way—not marinated in avatars, idols, influencers, or cacao ceremonies.

You’re Already Connected—You Just Don’t Realize It

We do have the ability to connect to God ourselves.

In fact, if you’re reading this, you’re connected right now—you just don’t realize it. It’s impossible to be alive without this connection. We just don’t do it consciously. As a result, we outsource our connection to:

  • churches

  • influencers

  • or—worse—New Age charlatans

Some do it because they don’t know better.
Most do it because they don’t want to change, yet still want to fulfill their self-image of evolution without changing at all.

The Journey Upward: Consciousness Has Layers

There are various layers of our consciousness that we have to work through from the bottom up, and it isn’t for the faint of heart.

But once we can connect to the highest level we can go, we heal, we love, we play—and it’s all possible through our ability to change.

Ascending these levels, or layers, isn’t easy. When we begin, we are targeted. Just like a game, each level brings its own tests, opportunities, and opponents we need to master.

The 3 Layers of Consciousness

For thousands of years, mystics have taught that human consciousness isn’t one thing but multiple interconnected layers. Let’s go over three:

  1. The Survival Self (Instinctual Layer)
Your base instincts, your drive to eat, fight, protect, and repeat.

  2. The Emotional Self (Heart-Mind Layer)
Your capacity to grow, care, discern right from wrong, and pursue meaning.

  3. The Higher Self (Essence Layer)
Your inner compass, your access to peace, purpose, and clarity beyond logic.

Why We Stay in Survival

At the Instinctual Layer, life feels reactive. It’s a basic level where you live in fight-or-flight. Emotionally and spiritually, it’s a survival mode that blocks clarity. If one remains at this layer of basic consciousness without spiritual striving, they are vulnerable to negative energies that can cling to them. A mind not uplifted by the desire for spiritual transformation is susceptible to negativity, falsehood, and illusions.

Staying only in survival mode opens us up to confusion and fear—especially in our subconscious (dreams, inner life). Hence the attraction to outsourcing our connection to God through gurus, true or false, via decorative dharma, and the New Age circus—which gives us just enough truth to keep us interested without challenging the blockages of limitation.

In other words, it’s very important to know that not all truth comes from positive sources. Sometimes misaligned energies speak truths, but their intention isn’t to guide us—it’s to gain our trust and, eventually, our energy. It works because the basic mind is drawn to what feels good. To comfort. A mystery that doesn’t require too much of truth. That’s why teachings that promise cosmic secrets, star family messages, or astral rituals have exploded online. They’re seductive, anxiety-inducing, and often totally ungrounded, wafting stenches of superiority and exclusiveness—without ever challenging the student.

Real spiritual growth is uncomfortable. It requires discipline, self-inquiry, humility, and surrender. But these negative sources, teachers, or beings rarely ask you to face yourself. They don’t push you to heal old wounds or confront your patterns. Instead, they hand you flattering identities and mystical concepts that make you feel spiritual without actually becoming more whole.

They Deal In Half-Truths

A half-truth is more dangerous than a lie—because it sounds just right enough to bypass your inner discernment.

They’ll speak of:

  • love

  • ascension

  • light,

  • and cosmic purpose

….but without the deeper structure, accountability, or ancient wisdom to anchor it. They’ll borrow language from real traditions but strip it of its rigor, turning it into soft, aesthetic fluff.

None of this challenges the ego. In fact, it inflates it. You’re never invited into the hard work of integration, atonement, or spiritual humility. You’re never confronted. You’re praised, coddled, and entertained. And when you’re in that feedback loop of flattery, you stay comfortable—and that’s where your mind becomes vulnerable.

Because if you’re never required to change, you’re never required to choose.
And if you’re never required to choose, you stay passive.
And passivity is exactly what these lower energies thrive on.

How Lower Energies Work

They don’t take your consciousness in some dramatic possession like a scene out of anime—they slowly siphon your will, your clarity, your alignment. Until you’re no longer on the path of your highest becoming. You’re just in orbit, distracted, disconnected, spiritually asleep but feeling “activated.”

That’s how they take your mind.

Not through force—through sedation.

Many of those teachings are built on lower-level energies that know exactly how to captivate the mind. They don’t care about your money. They care about your attention. Your energy. Your mind. And they get it by making you feel seen without ever making you grow.

The more you indulge in half-truths, the more disconnected you become from your own inner knowing. And slowly, the light goes dim. Not because you’re evil or stupid—but because you were lulled.

At the Heart-Mind Layer, real personal growth begins. You start asking deeper questions and living with more awareness.

What Real Growth Looks Like

I’ll be the first to admit—after helping thousands of people—it’s not easy looking at your shadow and cultivating the motivation to do something about it. I’ve seen many come and go, looking for validation and a comfort-zone program or guide. But true light awakening requires going deep in order to ascend and connect to the Divine. It’s a paradox of this world that we need to be strongly grounded and anchored in order to handle the energy and reveal it in our reality.

Real spiritual teachings are not always exciting. They don’t flatter your ego. They don’t hand you titles like “starseed priestess” or “galactic emissary” just because you watched a webinar.

They demand something of you.

They challenge you to confront what is unhealed, what is hidden, what is misaligned. They require you to sit in discomfort, to burn through illusion, to act with integrity. And that’s why so few people choose them.

Deep down, your Higher Self knows. This is the third layer—where you don’t just know what matters—you live it. You’re aligned with something greater than ego. You experience clarity, meaning, and grounded spiritual presence.

Until we reach this place, we need to be aware of three levels of influence that will try to prevent us from ever reaching it.

The 3 Influences That Hold You Back

First, remember: not all that shines is light. Even messages that seem profound can come from negative places—especially when we’re operating mostly from the Survival Self. Without emotional and spiritual refinement, we’re more open to confusion, spiritual noise, and misleading “intuitions”.

Which leads us to our first level:

  1. Energy Interference
Spiritual static. Whenever we experience mental fog from cluttered thoughts, stress, or emotional overload—we are facing this level. This can be as subtle as feeling “off” and not knowing why.

  2. Subconscious Sabotage
Disturbing dreams, negative self-talk, buried fear. Often this stems from unresolved pain or external energy we’ve absorbed.

  3. Truth-Twisting Spiritual Influence
Dreams, visions, psychic impressions—some true, some not. They feel profound, but if you’re not grounded, they can lead you far off course. Sometimes the dreams are true—perhaps due to residual merit. Sometimes they’re deceptive—illusions, misleading the mind. These forces may even cause emotional harm through distressing dreams.

This is why having a spiritual guide or grounded practice matters.

To remind you that you’re not broken. You’re not lost. You’re just in process.

But the process requires protection.

You Need Protection

So going forward, we should not invite energy into our lives without discernment. We don’t open the doors of our minds without making sure we know who—or what—we’re letting in.

Whether that’s through prayer, trusted teachers, grounded community, sacred texts, or your own clear inner compass—you need something to help you tell the truth from the noise.

  • Strive for Emotional Clarity
Move from reaction to response. Learn your triggers, sit with discomfort, grow from it.

  • Purify Your Inner World
What you consume (mentally, emotionally, physically) affects your spiritual hygiene.

  • Pay Attention to Your Dreams
Keep a dream journal. Ask: What part of me is speaking? What energy is behind the message?

  • Discern the Source
Is this insight bringing peace, or feeding fear? Is it lifting you, or draining you?

  • Anchor in Daily Integrity
The simplest way to invite your Higher Self is to live with honesty, courage, and kindness.

Finally: You Are More Than a Mind and Body

You don’t have to subscribe to a religion to explore your soul. You just need curiosity and courage. Spirituality isn’t about escape; it’s about integration—becoming more fully yourself.

You are not just a person surviving the world. You are a being evolving through it. When you rise beyond survival, you don’t lose your edge. You sharpen it—with clarity, purpose, and peace.

This is not a theory. It’s a lived experience. And it starts with you—here, now.
